Testimonials

Some of my former collegues and clients have been kind enough to share feedback on the working relationship. Here are a few appreciated remarks.

Stephen Pollington

'I have known Marco for 16 years; I have watched him build up a string of successful barber shops. I first worked with him in 1997 at directors in Clifton where he told me about his family’s business in knowle Bristol. He told me it was possible to make good money out of barbering (pay was always low where ever you worked). Following that after several months of working together in Clifton Marco went back to the family business in knowle and when a position became available I went to knowle and worked again with Marco. I was always impressed that Marco could strike up a rapour with anyone; he was very much the heart of the shop in knowle all the customers were drawn to his personality. After a couple of years I went and worked in other barber shops around Bristol until 2004 when I went to work for Marco in filton at a shop he had set up there. Yet again Marco was the centre of the shop and he was offering hot towel shaves which at that time was a unique service as Marco was one of only 3 shops in Bristol that offered this service. I had no idea how to perform this service so Marco trained me up to be confident at shaving. I only worked for Marco for 7 months when he offered me the opportunity to buy the business from him and lease the shop from him. This was and has been one of the best decisions I have ever made and has provided me with the ability to provide for my family.'

'I am a salon owner in Bristol. After having lost a valuable long serving member of my team, I sought a manager/managerial position at my barber shop. I made contact with Marco Carota who I have known in the business for over twenty years. Having had pervious experiences with himself and his father during my barbering career. With years of distinguished knowledge and experience in abundance, I felt Marco would be a fantastic member of my team to push and enhance my business forward. He brought into my barber shop open razor cut throat shaves, which has raised and enhanced the profile of my shop immensely. As a salon owner the piece of mind Marco has given me has enabled me to pursue other interests and leave the shop in his excellent managerial skills and capable hands, without any doubts or worries.'

'I started as an apprentice with Marco shortly after finishing a 2 year NVQ level 2 college course in hairdressing. I soon realised that the approach to barbering was very different to the ways I had been taught in college. Marco's training started at the very basic levels of gentlemen hairdressing, first learning about the tools I would be using and how to maintain them in order to provide the very best service to the customer and then gradually building confidence to put these skills into practice. I was soon cutting hair under the watchful eye of Marco, who constantly offered advice and suggestions on techniques and finishing, commonly known as polishing. Marco's training style is honest, patient, and empathetic, when something was wrong he told me straight, when something was good or better than the last he told me, when he could see I was struggling or bordering on a meltdown (we all have them!!) he took over and I watched. I can't recommend him highly enough, I'm barbering full time in a very busy shop and life is good. I love my job.... it was the best thing I ever did.'
